October 2025 Payment Date
- Payment Date: October 3, 2025
This payment will cover the period from July 2025 to June 2026, based on your 2024 tax year information.
How Much You Could Receive
Your GST/HST credit amount is determined by several factors:
- Marital Status: Single, married, or common-law partner.
- Number of Children: Children under 19 years of age registered for the Canada child benefit and the GST/HST credit.
- Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI): The combined income of you and your spouse or common-law partner.
For the 2024 base year (payments from July 2025 to June 2026), the maximum annual amounts are:
- Single Individual: Up to $533
- Married/Common-Law Couple: Up to $698
- Each Child Under 19: Up to $184
These amounts are subject to reduction based on your AFNI.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the GST/HST credit, you must:
- Be at least 19 years old.
- Be a resident of Canada for tax purposes during the month before and at the beginning of the month the CRA makes a payment.
- Have filed a tax return for the previous year.
If you’re under 19, you may still be eligible if you:
- Have (or had) a spouse or common-law partner.
- Are (or were) a parent and live (or lived) with your child.
Income Limits
Your eligibility and the amount you receive may be reduced or eliminated based on your AFNI. If your AFNI is equal to or exceeds the threshold set by the CRA, you may not be entitled to receive the GST/HST credit. These thresholds vary depending on your family situation and are updated annually.
How to Apply
You don’t need to apply separately for the GST/HST credit. By filing your annual tax return, the CRA will automatically determine your eligibility and calculate your payment amount. Ensure your personal information is up to date to avoid delays or issues with your payments.
Important Notes
- If you’re turning 19, the CRA will issue your first GST/HST credit payment on the payment date that comes after your 19th birthday, provided you meet all other eligibility criteria.
- Payments are typically issued on the fifth day of July, October, January, and April.
- If you do not receive your payment on the expected date, wait 10 working days before contacting the CRA.
